How do you convert 1530 military time to regular time?

For those who find themselves deciphering between regular time and military time, the task of converting from one to the other can be daunting. Military time is typically used by militaries throughout the world as well as law enforcement, emergency services, and other groups to ensure everyone is operating on the same clock.

The Standard 24 hour system or military time works based on a sequence of two numbers (4 digits); for example 1530 military time reads as "1530 hours" and translates easily into 3:30 PM that same day in regular time. To convert from military or 24 hour time to 12 hour or "regular" time all one needs to do is subtract 12 hours from the first two digits if they are 13 or higher. Using this example, we would take 1530 military time and subtract 12 hours which would make it 3:30 PM - the same as regular time.

This conversion process can also work in reverse; with 12 hour or "regular" times being converted into its corresponding 24 hour or "military" times by calculating the amount in which it exceeds 12 hours, while also adding a leading zero if necessary (for instance 11PM when converted becomes 2300). Following that with our example at hand; 3:30 PM in 12 hour or "regular" times translates into 1530 in military times.
